This year, the KERIC team started the Christmas party already in the afternoon by a not-at-all-Christmas-like squash tournament. Afterwards - feeling pleasantly tired, we had Christmas dinner in the Caribic restaurant :) followed by an exciting and funny opening of presents (brought by Ježiško, of course...:).
After a two-year-break, we finally had "real" winter in Slovakia with lots of snow and were thus able to renew our tradition of the spring sailing down the river Kysuca . On Wednesday 8 April 2009, we enjoyed the early spring sun, warm wind a good water waves on rafts from Cadca (right from in front of KERIC) as far as Ochodnica.
Having experienced several "gulas parties" during the summer, Rodolfo and Giovanna decided that it could be great to repeat this experience again - in spring. Staying in a cottage in the mountains, cooking gulas and enjoying the time together sounded like a brilliant idea to the whole KERIC team.
This year, the annual Christmas party in KERIC took place on an unsual date - 28th October. The reasons were several. First of all, Ivka's expecting a baby at the beginning of November so she'll be busy looking after her first-born during the "official" Christmas time.
Avant de choisir, je n'avais pas d'idée particulièrement défini sur la destination ou le projet. Je voulais juste aller voir ailleurs, avoir une nouvelle expérience. Je cherchais juste quelque chose de sérieux dans une association bien structurée. J'ai fait mon choix de partir en Slovaquie en... 10 jours ! Et j'y suis resté 10 mois pour y réaliser mon Service Volontaire Européen.

Olá futuros voluntários!
Meu nome é Jean Costa, eu tenho 20 anos e fui voluntário na Eslováquia de junho de 2007 a junho de 2008. Eu trabalhei no KERIC durante esse ano que foi, sem dúvida, um dos melhores da minha vida! A experiência foi desigual! Eu pude trabalhar com jovens e crianças, ensinando Inglês, Português e violão. Eu também tive uma grande oportunidade de aprender novas línguas (eu estudei eslovaco e pude também ter contato com alemão e francês).
Eigentlich war es nicht geplant, dass ich mein EFD in der Slowakei mache. Aber es war das Beste, was mir passieren konnte.
Ich habe mich entschieden für ein halbes Jahr in die Slowakei zu gehen. Als ich mich auf die Reise nach Čadca machte, war ich sehr unsicher und konnte kein einziges Wort auf slowakisch. Dadurch musste ich mich mit der nonverbalen Kommunikation durchschlagen, bis ich mich endlich auf slowakisch unterhalten konnte.
Parece ser condicion humana el hecho de valorar las cosas ya cuando han acabado... y es en esta cuestion donde me he encontrado durante toda mi estadia en Eslovaquia, solo distan cinco minutos, solo cinco minutos de reflexion donde uno logre a balconear la experiencia y darse cuenta, cuando aun no ha concluido, de la magnitud de esta.
"Bien, ¿por dónde comenzar a describir algo que ha sido una de las experiencias mas gratificantes de mi vida?, es realmente complicado.
El hecho es que no me resulta difícil recordar nada, por que llevo grabado en mi cabeza cada segundo que pasé como voluntario en esta organización. Han pasado ya seis años, y todavía siento como camino por las calles de Cadca dirigiendo mis pasos hacia KERIC.
Ich habe als Deutsch- und Englischlehrerin in KERIC sowie in einer Schule gearbeitet, habe mit den anderen Freiwilligen internationale Workshops vorbereitet und durchgeführt, habe Kinder am Nachmittag betreut, Tischfußballturniere veranstaltet und in den Ferien Camps für Kinder gemacht.
