In October we greeted representatives from East-European, Caucasian and European countries in KERIC already for the second time. The aim was to strengthen the cooperation with this region and create possibilities for expandation of number of young people who can take part in EVS in this region. Moreover we want more volunteers from these countries so we could help to mutual cognition of these cultures.

My name is Nathan Winder and I am 20 years old. I am a sports coaching degree undergraduate at University of central lancashire but my university campus is lancaster and morecambe college. I am currently undergoing a volunteering exercise with an organisation called Keric in Cadca, Slovakia. I have only been here for a few days so my initial working experience hasnt begun yet. All the people in keric have been friendly and kind which has been reassurring for both me and my classmate as we have never visited Slovakia before.

From 16th to 20th January, it was again possible to hear Russian, Englisg and other exotic languages in Čadca. In KERIC, we organized a training for representatives from Russia, Georgia, Moldavia, Lithuania, Macedonia, France, Italy and Czech Republic. The main objective of the meeting was to expend cooperation within the volunteering among these countries.

From September 2010, Keric cooperates with Euroschola from Třinec on the project "Connect with nature", which was supported by fund for cross-border cooperation. The goal of the project is to deepen knowledge of students at Secondary schools in the economic field by the form of workshops, discussions and other non-formal meetings.

Keric was one of the participants of of the seminar in Portugal - Lenka and Nilmar actively presented and discussed during the international seminar "From poverty to welfare"m which is part of the program from Youth in Action and took place within European year of the fight against the poverty and social exclusion.

From 10th to 14th of October many people from Čadca could wonder, when Thea, Anabelen, Sarah or other volunteers, who worked here during last years, met in Čadca again. Thanks to the support of program "Youth in Action" we had the opportunity to organize training for ex-volunteers and invited them back to Slovakia. So we met to change in return our experience from the job in KERIC, in Čadca, at schools.

From 30th September to 3rd of October, we hosted representatives of Finnish organizations who wanted to get to know as much as possible about our experience with project European voluntary service in KERIC. During these days they visited also our partner organizations KcA in Trenčín and CVČ in Stará Bystrica. Within the recognition of Slovak culture they visited also the open-air museum in Vychylovka. Definitely the main point of the program was to discuss as much as possible and experience the reality of voluntary life. The result of the meeting is that in future we definitely plan to host volunteers from Finland and also we will send there our young people.
