On February 9, the library in Čadca transformed into a small world full of movement, curiosity, and cultural exchange. Together with our European Solidarity Corps volunteers, we organized the International Day in the Library, an event that introduced students to different cultures through interactive activities and personal stories.

During the workshops, children had the chance to explore the world in a playful and informal way. They learned Arabic letters, tried out Italian gestures, discovered interesting places in Türkiye, and talked about geography and culture through games and conversations. Instead of learning from textbooks, students experienced cultures directly through interaction with volunteers from different countries.

The event also included inspiring talks about volunteering abroad.
Pája Tomková shared her personal experience from a volunteering project in Belgium, describing what it was like to live and work in another country. Zoltán Tamás spoke about his time in Peniche, Portugal, and how volunteering can open new perspectives, friendships, and opportunities for young people.

Altogether, nine school groups from the Kysuce region joined the event and spent the day exploring new cultures, asking questions, and discovering the world beyond their classrooms.

Events like this show that a library can be much more than a place for books. It can become a meeting point where stories, cultures, and people come together.
