It was never about the places
"The best part of this journey was never the places I visited – it was the people I met," Sena wrote. "I learned to love the quiet streets, the snowy cold mornings, the endless green forests and the mountains. Slovakia slowly became home."
The moments that become unforgettable
Ask any of our volunteers what they remember most, and it's rarely the big trips. It's the ordinary days shared with people from all over Europe – and Sena captured it perfectly. "I'll miss our conversations on the red sofa, cooking together in the kitchen, our international dinners, random trips, jokes that just we can understand, sharing everything, our laughter together and all the moments that somehow became unforgettable."
Not goodbye – see you later
"Now I know that a part of my heart will continue to live in different corners of the world. I don't like goodbyes, so I'll call this 'see you later.' Thank you for becoming such a beautiful chapter of my life. Somewhere, somehow, we'll meet again." 🤍

Sena's chapter started with a single application. If you are 18–30 years old and want Slovakia to become your home for a few months, become an ESC volunteer at KERIC in Čadca. You will live and work with an international team of volunteers, and accommodation, food allowance, pocket money, travel costs and a Slovak language course are covered by the European Solidarity Corps.
