This meeting was part of the ECOnnection project, realised thanks to the financial support of the Cross-border cooperation between the Czech Republic and Slovakia. The topic of the meeting was "You know what you eat". Using the non-formal method of learning by doing, the children tried to understand various sophisticated terms such as to "eat locally" as well as to identify different signs on food, for example on eggs.  For example, in one task, the children received a recipe for a meal. To be able to cook the dish, the children had to gain the food items. If they needed bananas, they had to run very far to get them, because bananas are grown in Brasil, which is 12 000 km far from Slovakia. If they needed applies, they were given them right on the spot, because apples are grown in our region Kysuce. Having experienced how far they had to walk or run, the children understood the term of "local food". The children not only enjoyed these three days in international educational atmosphere but they have also learnt a lot about local food. The next activity coming up as part of the project are workshops under the topic ecological transport.
